Who we are
MechanicNow LLC operates mechanicnow.com and provides mobile vehicle services in the Columbus, Ohio area. This notice explains how we handle information when you visit our site, request service, use our vehicle tools, or contact us.
Information you provide
We collect the contact and service details you submit: your name, phone number, email, service address and ZIP code, vehicle information, vehicle concerns, selected services, requested arrival window, access notes, and messaging preferences. We also keep service requests, estimates, invoices, and communications needed to manage your service.
Vehicle lookup and location
If you choose VIN lookup, your VIN is sent to NHTSA’s vehicle information service to decode the vehicle. Vehicle selections are used with Open Labor Project to find available vehicle configurations and labor estimates. Address suggestions use Google Maps services. If you select “Use my location” and grant browser permission, your location is used with Google to find your ZIP code. You can decline permission and enter your address or ZIP manually.
Ask a mechanic
Our AI assistant sends the messages you enter and relevant conversation context to OpenAI to generate replies. Do not enter payment details, passwords, or other sensitive personal information in chat. Replies are general guidance, not an inspection or confirmed diagnosis. If you continue into booking, your concern and vehicle details may be carried into your request.
How we use and share information
We use information to respond to inquiries, check service coverage, prepare estimates, coordinate technicians, maintain service records, process payments, and protect the site from misuse. Information is handled by our team and providers supporting hosting, our operations software, communications, vehicle data, mapping, AI, and payment processing. Service requests may be sent to authorized staff by text. Quo supports service messaging; Stripe handles payment links and payment processing. Card details entered on Stripe’s payment page are handled by Stripe, rather than our booking form. Providers may also process technical information such as IP addresses under their own policies. We may disclose records where required by law or necessary to address fraud or protect legal rights.
Text messages
Text consent is optional. If you opt in, we may send request confirmations, appointment updates, estimates, invoice links, and related service messages. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, or contact us for help. We do not sell or share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing. Providers may process this information to deliver messages on our behalf.
Browser storage and technical information
The website uses browser storage to retain vehicle selections and service-request drafts during your visit. Hosting and service providers may process technical logs such as IP address, browser information, request times, and errors for delivery, security, and troubleshooting. Third-party features may use their own cookies or similar technologies. You can clear browser storage and manage cookies or location permissions in your browser; doing so may reset drafts or limit features.
Retention, security, and your choices
We keep information for service administration, accounting, dispute resolution, and applicable legal requirements, then delete or de-identify it when no longer needed. Retention varies by record type. We use access restrictions and other safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Email us to request access, correction, or deletion, or ask about our data practices. We may verify your identity and retain records when required or permitted by law. Available rights depend on applicable law. You may use phone or email instead of optional AI, location, or text features.
Children and updates
Our service is intended for adults arranging vehicle repairs, not children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information. We may update this notice as our services change and will show the revised date here. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
